Since 2016, annual container throughput in TCIT has exceeded 1 million TEU for three years in a row and this year’s pace to reach 1 million TEU is 3 months earlier than in 2016 or one and half months earlier than in 2017.
As the result of rising demand in trading, especially domestic goods to Central and North of Vietnam in the early of 2018, TCIT has enjoyed a good impact in throughput volume. In the first eight months of this year, the throughput of TCIT keeps growing by 11%, jumped from 921,710 TEU previous year to 1,024,841 TEU. Last year, TCIT reached over 1.4m TEU in throughput volume. Overall, the company is confident to achieve over 1.5m TEU in 2018 with this strong growth rate.
Out of existing 21 weekly container services in Cai Mep, TCIT accommodates 10 global services including 7 routes to USA/Canada, 1 Asia-Europe and 2 Intra-Asia loops. As for feeders, there are about 4-5 domestic ships and 10 barges connecting to Cambodia being handled at TCIT every week. This has made TCIT become the busiest port in Cai Mep – Thi Vai.
