On March 20, 2021, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Politburo Member, Prime Minister of Vietnam visited Tan Cang - Cai Mep International Terminal (TCIT), belonging to Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP).
Joining the delegation were Mr. Truong Hoa Binh, Deputy Prime Minister; Mr. Nguyen Van The, Member of the Party Central Committee, Minister of Transport; Vice Admiral Pham Hoai Nam, Member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Minister of National Defense; Mr. Pham Viet Thanh, Member of the Party Central Committee, Secretary of the Party Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau and other Government agencies.
During the meeting, Colonel Ngo Minh Thuan - General Director of SNP reported to the Prime Minister about the operation results of Tan Cang - Cai Mep port, including: Tan Cang – Cai Mep International Terminal (TCIT), Tan Cang - Cai Mep Container Terminal (TCCT), and Tan Cang - Cai Mep Thi Vai Terminal (TCTT).

Not only proposed the Prime Minister to pay more attention to traffic and infrastructure investgation in this area, SNP also petitioned the Prime Minister to allow SNP receiving and investing in Cai Mep Downstream Project; Cai Mep Downstream Logistics Center; creating conditions for SNP to continue performing the leading role in the field of seaport exploitation and logistics services, while ensuring socio-economic development in parallel with national security, as well as proposing the Prime Minister to establish the Free Trade Zone to connect seamlessly among Cai Mep Ports - Logistics Center - Industrial Park and Export Processing Zone.
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc acknowledged the achieved results and encouraged SNP to continuously keep moving forward and develop in the next years. The Prime Minister also agreed with the proposals of the Saigon New Port and assigned the Government authorities, ministries, and local leaders to create all conditions for Saigon New Port to implement projects effectively soonest.
