TCIT welcomes the first vessel of the ZSL/Pelican service operated by ZIM and MSC

Ba Ria - Vung Tau, February 8, 2025 – This morning, at Tan Cang – Cai Mep International Terminal (TCIT), a ceremony was held to welcome the first vessel of the ZSL/PELICAN service, jointly operated by ZIM and MSC. This important event marks a new milestone in the cooperation between TCIT and the world’s leading shipping lines.

The ceremony was attended by leaders from local authorities including Vung Tau Maritime Administration, Cai Mep Customs Branch, Cai Mep Border Guard Station, representatives of Saigon Newport Corporation (SNP) and its subsidiaries. The event was also honored to welcome Mr. Fernando De La Rosa – General Director of ZIM Vietnam, Colonel Bui Van Quy – Deputy General Director of SNP, the captain and crew of the NINGBO vessel, along with local media agencies from Ba Ria – Vung Tau province.
 

Speaking at the event, Colonel Bui Van Quy – Deputy General Director of SNP highly appreciated the valuable cooperation of ZIM and MSC in choosing TCIT, a member terminal of SNP, to operate this service. He expressed his belief that with the good, growing partnership between SNP and global shipping lines, the parties will achieve even greater success, making 2025 a breakthrough year of growth and transformation.

The ZSL/PELICAN service connects Vietnam’s cargo to major ports in the U.S. Gulf region with a detailed port rotation including: TCIT – Xiamen – Yantian – Pusan – Lazaro Cardenas – Panama Canal – Houston – Mobile – Tampa – Miami – Suez Canal – TCIT. The NINGBO vessel, operated by ZIM, has a deadweight of 108,574 tons, a length of 334 meters, and a capacity of up to 8,440 TEUs, part of a fleet of 12 mother vessels jointly deployed by MSC and ZIM with an average capacity of 8,000 – 12,000 TEUs.
